The Newtalians are a Boston-based band that revisits beloved Italian classics (Mina, Gino Paoli, Matia Bazar) in a modern way. Bossa nova meets jazz, ska meets funk. Bass player Diego Puppin (played with Grace Kelly and Jamie Stewardson) leads the ensemble, which features the voice of Barbara Balistreri (played with Giacomo Sferlazzo and opened for Claudio Baglioni), Guido Bartoloni at keys (from Salimblues), Carmelo Presicce at drums (from Carrelli Elevatori), and Scott Weiner at soprano sax (from The Drivers).
IDEA Boston is an Italian-inspired festival celebrating authors, books and culture, and organized by independent bookstore I AM Books, situated in Boston's North End neighborhood.
