As this study centers on the intergenerational transmission of culture, their relationship mirrors these questions, as mother and daughter they contend with their similar and different experiences and relationships to Italian American identity and food.

Andrea L. Dottolo is an Associate Professor of Psychology at Rhode Island College, in Providence, Rhode Island. She teaches courses in human diversity, personality, and gender studies. Her scholarship explores the relationships between cultures, histories, social movements, immigration and social identities. Alongside her mother Carol, she co-authored “Italian American Women, Food, and Identity: Stories at the Table.”
Carol A. Dottolo is a retired teacher and reading specialist from Liverpool Central School District in Liverpool, NY. She has extensive experience in teaching language and comprehension. She is the co-author of “Italian American Women, Food, and Identity: Stories at the Table.”
